Anxiety is the body’s way of responding to stress or perceived danger. It is the body’s survival mechanism and it works so well that the slightest thoughts of fear or danger can trigger an anxiety response even when there is no danger present.

The physical sensations experienced vary and can include dizziness, muscle tension, dry mouth, fast or shallow breathing, racing heart, palpitations, sweating and stomach churning.

Symptoms are uncomfortable and range from mild to moderate or when severe can cause panic attacks. Avoidance is a hallmark of anxiety which may interfere with your ability to function normally. Everyone experiences anxiety but too much of it can be detrimental to our lives and relationships.
